Before joining McDougal Boehmer Foley Lyon Mitchell & Erickson, Ms. Beatty served as a deputy district attorney for five years, gaining extensive litigation experience. She handled over 100 preliminary hearings involving violent crimes, theft, fraud, and drug trafficking. She successfully prosecuted seven jury trials and litigated numerous suppression motions, as well as probation, parole, and juvenile delinquency court hearings.

Ms. Beatty was twice elected to the Poway Unified School Board in San Diego County, serving two four-year terms. During her tenure, she developed in-depth knowledge of laws governing local education agencies and municipalities, including the Ralph M. Brown Act, the California Education Code, and the Government Code. She was cited by name in the California Appellate Court case Bates v. Poway Unified Sch. Dist., 83 Cal. App. 5th 907, 916, regarding the school district’s allocation of state reimbursement funds. She earned a Masters in Governance (MIG) from the California School Boards Association (CSBA) and led a comprehensive overhaul of the district’s Board Policies and Procedures.

An avid runner, Ms. Beatty has completed 19 marathons, numerous half marathons, and has run the Boston Marathon four times.
